Our Mission Statement

The NSHEA represents a growing number of families committed to quality education of their children at home.

The purpose of the organization is:

  1. to safeguard the rights of homeschooling families,
  2. to promote the awareness of homeschooling within the province, and
  3. to represent their interests at provincial and local levels.

We welcome your support in achieving these goals.

NSHEA is non-denominational and inclusive. It represents families that have a wide variety of reasons for educating their children at home and use many diverse methods to accomplish their goals.

2012 NSHEA FAMILY DAY and AGM

We are excited to invite NSHEA Members and all other homeschooling families to this wonderful event.  

This year, we are taking you to the Glooscap Heritage Centre in Truro.  Rich in history and culture, the centre is centrally located and will provide the perfect opportunity to learn more about our First Nations.  (If you would like more information on the Glooscap Heritage Centre, go to: http://www.glooscapheritagecentre.com/)

The Family Day is free to all who pre-register in advance.  Remember, this event is open to all NSHEA members and their families, as well as any other homeschooling families who would like to partake.

Early Bird deadline has passed.  However, you can still register.  Only $10 per family. Please RSVP by April 25th, 2012.

Our organization is driven by volunteer power. We are all homeschooling parents who share a passion for what we all do each and every day.  The NSHEA could not exist if it were not for the efforts of our volunteers.  Every year, the executive positions are up for nomination and election at the AGM.  Each position does not require a large time commitment, only a desire to keep homeschoolers in the loop and provide important connections and interactions around the province.  If you are interested in a position or would like more information, please contact us at treasurer@nshea.ca. 

Brief overview of Family Day...
10:30-11:30    Families arrive and enjoy the Glooscap Heritage Centre

11:30-12:00    Bring your own picnic lunch (rain and shine eating areas available)

12:00-2:30      Annual General Meeting for adults.  This is more than just a meeting.  We take most of the time     to share our experiences in homeschooling, our resources we use and support one another.  Its a perfect time for a cup of coffee and for inspiration to take off!
